I am an artist working with a camera. One camera one lens. With this simple setup my mind, eyes and heart are freed up to focus on the important things. I mostly work in the genres of Social Documentary and Street Photography. However I often feel drawn to photograph other things: landscapes, tiny details in the world around me, pretty much anything might attract my eye and heart.
In my Social Documentary and Street work, I seek to portray people as they go about their daily lives and I photograph them in ways that demonstrate their humanity to the viewer. With my other work, I am just as contemplative in my approach, and allow my intuition to guide me. My photography, like so much else in my life, is informed by two (at least!) guiding principles. First, I come from a humanistic approach with love, compassion and empathy as my guides. And second: There are no ordinary moments, just moments that pass us by unnoticed. It is these so-called ordinary moments but which really are special and unique, that I am passionate about photographing and sharing.
I am a nomad: I have traveled all my life and will keep on moving. Right now I am travelling in Australia, after having recently spent five months in India. Slow travel is the thing, and we go where the wind blows, to borrow a well-worn cliché.
Being married is a constant source of wonder and joy for me. Not only that, my partner Pauline is my muse; it is she who inspires me to keep going; to look deeper, to think more and to actually act upon my own creative impulses.
I believe in the power of art to heal, to promote peace and understanding and to generally enlighten and enrich our lives. Please enjoy your visit to my site
Thank you
